A BREATH OF FRESH AIR!

Kassie is finally off of crate rest!  She still needs to keep fairly quiet until July.  No wrestling or games of chase but she can still have nice quiet walks in the neighborhood.

Today was a beautiful spring day!  So, I opened up the front door to get some fresh air.  Kassie's nose came up from the water bowl and she made her way to the front door.  Her nose was twitching.  She pressed her face against the screen and couldn't seem to get enough fresh air.  She kept sniffing and pushing... sniffing and pushing... until we heard a ripping sound.  I didn't think much of the noise until I saw the front half of Kassie on the front porch and her butt in the foyer!

Kassie maintains that it was our house guest, the Portuguese Water Dog, that started a small rip in the screen.  She must really be a smart dog because she is right!   I can't fault a curious girl!

TREATMENT UPDATE

Kassie was a very good sport after the first part of her treatment.  Her foster mommy followed every word of the vet's instructions and kept her quiet until the next treatment.  Crate rest  had to get really boring!  Poor thing!  But, her 3 year old human read her stories and taped art work to the side of her crate!  They also napped together!

Kassie would get special time to cuddle in bed with us when the other dogs were out of the room. Kassie could have been feeling horrible but she never showed it!  She was ready to play with the dogs!  Too ready to play...LOL!
Kassie had a few other issues to work on.  She was loaded with worms and had to be treated again for hookworm.  Then, Kassie went into heat!  That was another reason to keep her safe in her crate!  We even put a crate in the back yard so she could enjoy the nice weather without a stray male dog "enjoying" her!

TREATMENT DAY!

Kassie was very brave when she went to see our vet this morning!  I gave her a big hug and lots of kisses before she went with the tech.   I told her that we love her.  I reassured her that she would see her foster family tomorrow!   Kassie is in great hands!

SCRUB A DUB DUB...KASSIE'S IN THE TUB!

As soon as the first drop of water hit my thick fur, I decided that I wasn't going to like this bath thing!  Then, my Fommy started rubbing my fur with nice smelling bubbles!  I must say, that felt really good!
It felt so good that I put my head in her arms and fell asleep for a bit!
Even my little foster sister helped out!  That was nice!  I was so grateful that I thought I would share the experience!  So, I shook my whole body as hard as I could!  It was pretty funny!
Sorry...no photos of that!

PRETTY CUTE, HUH?

I think I'm cute enough.  BUT...I heard my Fommy saying that I need a bath to SMELL cute!

WHO'S THERE?

I really tried to go potty!  Really, I did!  But... every time I would take a step, I would hear a crunchy noise.  I kept looking to see who was following me but I never saw anyone!  My Fommy was laughing!  She told me it was just really crunchy snow.  So, I had to check it out!

ALL IN THE FAMILY...

I was told that this little thing in the cage is a family member...NOT food!  That's fine with me! I mean no harm!  Binnie, the guinea pig, is fun to watch and she gives kisses!

THE LONG DRIVE HOME...

It was a long 6 hour drive home!  We made a few potty stops... mainly for the two legged kid!   We also stopped for gas and my foster mom caught my foster sister trying to get out of her "harness" so she could play with me!  Uh Oh!  I heard my "Fommy"  (that's short for Foster Mommy) tell someone that I was really good in the car!

THE GREAT HANDOFF

We met in Bedford, PA.  A nice lady named, Sasha, got me from my boarding location and drove 2 hours to meet my new foster mom!  My foster mom was driving from MI  to bring Jack to his new Furever Mom, Sasha!  What a coincidence!

Lisa, my new foster mom, also brought 2 other A&B dogs that were heading toward Buck Hollow with Janet.   And a tiny dog that was going to his furever family!  That dog got to ride with Sasha and Jack!  WOW! Someone had their thinking caps on!

Then, we had a nice surprise!  A lady named Cathie, was following our transport online and stopped by to help!  Wow... more people to pet me!  Nice!

Hello!  I'm Kassie!  What's your name?
I know you are all really busy, but you all have 2 hands and one could be petting me!
Hi Spot!  Peek a boo!  I see you in there!  What can you tell me about my new foster home?  How was your ride from Michigan?  Is this lady a good driver?
Hurry up,  Harry!  My foster mom wants me to go in your crate for the long ride home!  Jack just told me that he loved staying with my foster mom and her family!  I hope he wasn't pulling my tail!

WAITING FOR KASSIE...

Kassie's foster family is eagerly awaiting her arrival.  Kassie will ride home from PA with her foster mom on Saturday, March 1.  We will spend the next few days spoiling her and getting to know Kassie.  Please check back after 3/6/08.  I'm sure we will have lots to share!

HELP IS ON THE WAY!

A plea for help was sent out to help this "Brittany" at a high kill shelter in South Carolina. Kassie is heartworm positive and was placed into foster care by the shelter.  Her time in foster care ended and she was facing a return to the shelter and an almost certain death!

Above and Beyond Setter Rescue felt that Kassie deserved a chance to live the life of a healthy and spoiled house dog!

So, Kassie is making the long trip from SC to her new foster home in MI!  Kassie travelled from Barnwell, SC to a boarding facility in Wytheville, VA on  2/23/08.  Four days later, Kassie made the journey to a boarding facility in Hagerstown, VA.  Kassie's foster mom will drive to Bedford, PA on 3/1/08 to finally bring that sweet girl to MI.

Kassie's trip North to her new life was made possible by several volunteers that participated in her transport!

Special thanks to Kassie's Chauffeurs:  Dawn, Karen, Alisa, Ruthie, Eryn & Robin
